GoodRx - What's the catch?

Caveat, not an agent

@Todd King

Re comment in another thread.

One situation is that some agents will be recommending a discount card which is supported by a website with a black and orange color scheme.

Goodrx on left, BO (black and orange on right), access date 10/04/2021, Kroger - KS version

Name brand 3rd generation beta blocker 15mg 30pills $167.53 $178.99
Arthritis NSAID 15mg 30 pills $10.74 $32.10
Old first generation TCA 25mg 60 pills $11.00 $13.56
Antifungal cream 3 15g tubes $14.99 $27.77
diazepam 2 pills $1.35 $10.37
Oxycodone 5/325 10 pills $11.51 $12.38
Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg 20 pills $9.99 $26.93

I also don't care for the black and orange color scheme and I find that website harder to use than goodrx's website.

Not sure what website you've gone to, but GlicRx is not black and orange. Besides that, what makes you think that black and orange is something that all agents dislike? This is not even an issue for anyone....except you, I guess.

If you look at the reviews for their app, I think you'll find it to be 5 out of 5 stars on the rating.

As for the pricing. Congrats, you found some scripts that are cheaper with GoodRx.

Are you really still referring GoodRx knowing that they have been bought by GoHealth?

I understand that there is some concern for agents with GoodRX.

From the consumer point of view I think that some of the alternate options agents are preparing to present to a client do their clients a disservice, in some cases a significant disservice.

I did not say anything about agents disliking any of the plans. I suggested that consumers may not be well served by some choices they will be presented with by agents.

I can't check at all on GlicRX because you have to provide them a name and email before you can even do any price checking.

I know from posts here and IMO and agent emails that some agents will be presenting the black and orange option to clients asking for drug help during this AEP. I don't see that as a good choice for the consumers. Because of the dollars involved, I know that my consumer opinion here will have absolutely no effect on IMO or agent actions, so I am not mentioning the specific name of the discount plan or any IMO or agent names. Any agent that is really interested can figure it out quite easily.

I noticed the app comment. I don't understand apps. I don't do apps.

I did happen to have a face to face conversation with an insurance agent in the grocery store today. When GlicRX came up, she gave me a card. She said "they" were finding it had lesser costs than GoodRX in some cases.

Maybe LD is color blind.

I have been paying for vision insurance for going on 5 years and haven't used it.
My eyes are starting to hurt when I stare at Insurance Forums a lot.
I was also diagnosed with cataracts my last visit to the optometrist.

You could be right. :D

I wonder if I could get an opthalmologist and endodontist to do a joint surgery?

And it is still useless. Even with a free card provided to me by a Kansas licensed insurance agent, It still requires my name and email address to do pricing lookups.

When I look up a med I am interested in, it gives me quotes for CVS, Walgreens and Walmart. It does not include the KS Kroger company which is what I use, and I am unable to see any way to expand the listing of displayed pharmacies.

Looking up my 7 medications, the CVS-Walgreens-Walmart triumvirate pricing is slightly less than GoodRX-Kroger on 2 of the lower priced meds. The GlicRX overage price on two of the meds is absolutely obscene.

For example: doxycycline hyclate 100mg tablet qty 20. GoodRX $9.99 at Kroger. GlicRX $40.48 at WalMart.

I also find the GlicRX quantity entry screen(s) to be confusing.

RXGO is also cheaper than GlicRX for all but 1 of the 7 medications on my list.

Speaking as a consumer, I will pass on GlicRX.
