Maternity Coverage

I know the math doesn't work out on maternity coverage, but what carriers offer maternity? Any experiences you might have had would be great. I have a client 20F healthy. Her mom has more money than God, and has pretty much said she wants to buy a policy to emulate the group coverage she is coming off of because she got married. Money is no issue. I have already tried to explain the maternity and copay issues, but she wants her daughter to have both... Suggestions?
 
Aetna's HMO has decent coverage and is included in the rate. UHC's rate is low but caps coverage at $4000. Blue Cross has great coverage and is very expensive. Assurant has good coverage and is expensive. Humana has average coverage and is expensive. And the NFL draft is next weekend.

I hope this helps. These are Ohio-based answers but might apply to other states.
 
The options depend on your state. What is available here in GA, or in OH where Chumps lives, may not apply where you are.
 
You know...this is such an interesting dilemna we as agents run into either occasionaly or frequently. I'll admit that before I became a health agent, I felt that maternity coverage was more of a "necessity" than what it really is in fact an "elective". In other words you "choose" to become pregnant or if not chosen it's an "oops".

I think you did good by explaining to her that matertinity coverage is available but at a cost. This is one example where i've know countless of women who will get a job for the sole reason of maternity coverage. As far as I'm concerned, that is a major flaw in group coverage...making the healthy pay for elective events along with paying for the unhealthy in the group.
 
Well, don't laugh too much at the $10,000 deduct.

*It's only $8 a month to add it
*Everything is re-priced
*It meet pre-authorization requirements
*A pregnancy with complications can easily go over $10,000
 
Some states, GA in particular, require carriers to cover complications of maternity regardless of whether they offer standard maternity benefits or not.
