Selling SilverScript

Was told by many that I had to take AHIP to be able to sell SilverScript. Finally found someone who knew the facts. If you are contracted with Aetna MA you must do AHIP. If you are not contracted with Aetna you could take certifications on the SilverScript website which I completed and passed a few weeks ago.

This week my policyholders get a letter stating another agent would service them. I call SilverScript and was told I was certified and I was the agent of record. Next I called the agent's office and was told the letter went out because they didn't think I would certify. I was told they would send another letter retracting the first. My question is how did Joe Blow know my client base? Did SilverScript furnish this to him? The first letter was mailed before the deadline to certify so maybe they should have waited to see who would do the training and then send a letter for those agents who didn't.

I can't tell you what's going on, but if I were you I wouldn't stop until I got to the bottom of it.

The first question I have is...who is your direct upline? Who is their upline? Who is this other agency under? Is there some sort of tie-in there?

Don't stop until you get the chance to at least bitch someone out for what they did. You can also site HIPAA as a violation....hopefully.

I was in a treestand this morning when I posted this. The letter came from National Service Group of AmeriLife. The agent named was Matthew Graham. The deadline to certify was 12/7 and the letter was mailed a couple of weeks prior.

Wow all this is still going on Why not just do the ahip and offer other PDP plans as well

Silver Script is not nearly as good as it used to be some clear tier 2 drugs are tier 3 on that plan including the generic for Crestor rosuvastatin and the generic for Xanax alprazolam

If you are selling silver Script to every client because it is what you can get paid on I would say you are doing a major disservice

I am def not saying you are doing that just saying with all this trouble you have had trying to avoid the ahip you could just do it and have more to offer

I don't sell but a few MAPD plans each year and I can do that with UHC without doing AHIP. Aetna doesn't offer a plan here so only wanted SilverScript to keep my renewals on 100 plus or minus clients. Didn't sell any new policies with them in 2020. Always help clients shop and they enrolled themselves with whichever carrier they thought was best. I made nothing for my efforts. I only help those who buy a Medicare Supplement from me.

Still though 100 Plus clients and you could have just done the Ahip its takes like and hour each year its not that big a deal

and you will have more options, The Aetna MA's have got strong in the last couple of years too

its nice to have options what if doc no longer takes AARP or the plan goes high copay less bene's one year

Its really not that hard and less stressful then trying to find out till the last minute if you can avoid it or not

I have heard AHIP takes at least 4 hours but I have never took it. I probably don't have 20 MAPD on the books. The only reason to certify with SilverScript was to receive renewals.

SilverScript legacy (pre Aetna) can be transferred by the upline from agents who have not completed certifications. Actually, depending on the contract level, they can switch the agent regardless. They do this because if the writing agent does not certify the uplines also lose out on override. It'll cease completely for everyone. However, in order for uplines to make the change they must notify the members via writing, on company letterhead, and who there agent will be with contact info. Then after the upline can request SilverScript to make the change. Amerilife was a top FMO of SilverScript. This is and has been the process for some time now. If you certified in time this should prevent the transfer but you'd want to call them to make sure to put a halt to your business transfer.

Todd is spot on . THIS IS A BIG FREAKIN DEAL. Someone in your Hierarchy gave your client list away for Silver Script.
I've had this happen a couple of times with Med Supp carriers. They had policy anniversary date, premiums, clients DOB, etc. Never could figure it out.
If you're only looking at the 5K you need to widen your view.

AHIP doesn't take 4 hours. The review is about an hour and MAX test time is 2 hours, I think.

Seriously, you can do AHIP in an hour or so if you pay attention to the review questions/note the answers.

If you know the basics about MA and marketing rules, you'll be fine.
