The Securus Way

I agree. That project 300 killed me. I had no idea how bad it was when I first started. Most of the people on my project 300 were my friends who were broke, their parents were either broke or had something that disqualified them from a Mass Mutual policy. The ones that had the money asked me, "how long had you been doing this?" I would tell them "two weeks," and rightfully so they would laugh at that and say, "I'm not handing you money for a life insurance policy which you have 0 experience doing. Sorry." I can't blame them. I didn't take it personal because they were right.

Now I'm learning telemarketing techniques and door knocking techniques and other prospecting techniques. I have no problem learning the methods and then eventually seeing the results.

What in the world were you doing seeing people on your Project 300 list by yourself? Your manager or a senior agent should have been along with you, particularly for the A-list prospects. That should have overcome that when you could point to someone with years of experience.

Although, that may have been a blessing in disguise. It may have just prolonged your misery at Mass.

My up line wasn't very interested in going with me to see my prospects. We had one guy who had prospects in his project 300 that were making high end money. 95% of my prospects were perfect for the final expense market, which was how I learned about the final expense market.

When I asked him to come with me to see someone he didn't seem very enthusiastic about it. Like I said, most of the people I knew fit perfectly with the final expense market or they were guys coming out of college who wouldn't see a point in purchasing a life insurance policy at their age. They had no kids, no home, no wife, not very large expenses so they really didn't want to get the policy. My guess is that since most of my prospects were guys who just came out of college or older people who couldn't afford the premiums of a Mass Mutual policy so when I brought him the few who were perfect candidates he told me that it was more important to go to his morning meetings.

Project 300, or whatever, works but not for people coming into the business for most people. I wouldn't mind doing it after I've established myself but with such extremely small experience it was just a bad idea.
