The Securus Way

Yeah they changed companies. Of course they never let us know how the leads were done. They made it seem as if it was in-house.

What does everyone think about Securus and their presentation? Has anybody seen it? I have a friend who told me that they use a presentation and something called "I am your policy" and some other letter. It seems like a good program. Can anybody give me their opinion? Much appreciation!

Two tools that you have that are FAR more powerful:

1. Deliver your policies - allocate 30 minutes to this and you will cement your placement and have the opportunity to sew the sales seeds for grandchildren polices, cancer coverage, referrals, etc., and

2. Dial up your clients or send them a card t least twice a year.

If you think that you don't have the time to deliver your policies, ask yourself how JD is able to do it.

Thanks for the advice. I started in the business working for Mass Mutual and I went through their training and they said the same thing.

The "I am your policy" thing was just corny and gimmicky (as newby mentioned earlier) but I mean at the moment I'm just learning and will ask any questions I have on anything.

How long were you at Mass?

How long were you at Mass?

Approx 5 months in total. I went through their Mass Mutual university and trained there a little bit. The best thing I got from them were the many ways to ask for referrals and also how to keep business in the books via the One Card System. They also went through this presentation with me.

Great company but my problem was they only trained me doing the referral system (project 300) which works if your friends/family make decent money but my friends were all just out of college, or just had kids at an early age or their parents had barely any money or had some type of disease (one friend's mom has COPD) and that's how I got into the final expense market.

They were awful for direct mailing or telemarketing training because whenever I would ask them to help me with direct mailing or cold calling they would say they don't advise training for anything other than project 300 and they refuse to go outside of that. It could be just the firm wasn't very good at it or could be another reason.

Like I said, it was great for training. Captive just didn't work for me.

I was trained the same way and that is still pretty much my business model. I moved 3 hours away and and a 1,000 miles culture wise away when I started. That meathod works very well for me right now.

However, without a prospecting method you will need to buy or create leads in the same manor the FE agents do. Mailers, door knocking or buying leads. Once you have a book you can build off of that.

Reading some of your post I would recommend finding somebody willing to train you. Starting out it is more about being a insurance salesman later you can choose to be an insurance agent. IMHO

I am with a pretty newly established IMO. I went with them because they were willing to allow me to do ride alongs whenever and be able to ask questions.

I tried for EFES but I could only do ride alongs if I visited down south I forgot what state it was.

I know what you're saying, though. I'm looking forward to the days that I could go on my book of business more than direct mailing but that won't be for a while.

I learned the hard way, though. Project 300 wasn't for me who had just started. No big deal all part if the learning process. :)
