I just thought I would take a minute and say hi and welcome to all of the marketers. It is a pleasure to meet you and have you here on my website. Please stay and enjoy yourself, the crowd can be tough, but your stay can be rewarding if you stick with it. Whether you are an FMO, sell leads, technology, training or otherwise, please know that you are welcome, despite what some people may tell you.
There are lots of people here who think that because something is successful for them, that is the only way anyone can be successful. If you marketers can see past those guys, you might enjoy yourselves.
There are others who feel that the only people who can or should share information are those who have used that same information and executed on those ideas personally. They usually only feel that way about the area in which they have been on the ground and seen success, although not always.
I don't personally share that philosophy, I am fortunate that I don't have that psychological block, and am willing to learn even from those who can't or haven't had success with what they are teaching. Lord knows I have lots of other psychological blind spots that hamper success, but that is not one of them.
The forum rules on posting offers are somewhat nebulous and that is on purpose. The ultimate lens that we use is if we see value to the community. Blatantly spammy or offer-like posts will be removed, except when we don't feel like it. Those rules are also somewhat relaxed when it comes to people who have added value for a long time to the forum, and who continue to do so.
I welcome any marketer or anyone selling something that wants to participate in the community and add value to the discussions. That's what signature space is for, it was designed specifically to allow people to profit off of their participation. Some very lovely companies have been launched off the back of participation in this forum and I anticipate that many others will be launched over time. Others have supplemented very nice companies with added distribution from the forum, by being able to get their "better mousetrap" in front of lots of people in their buying niche.
In an ironic twist, some people who benefit directly from those companies that use the forum to grow are the biggest protesters of the marketers here on the forum.
My job is to aggregate as many insurance agents as I can in one spot, and to draw as much content out of them as I can. That helps the agents who participate by enabling them to share, learn, meet new people and better feed their families. When I execute on that, then it can translate into added revenue to my company.
The fact is that those who market often are very knowledgeable, and are willing to take the time to help people. Sure, it isn't as altruistic as those who do so just because they like to help, but as long as we maintain a good balance, they are adding value in my eye.
If anyone doesn't like the balance of promotions to banter to education, they are welcome to build their own better mousetrap.
Just my 2 cents
