Door Knocking on Sunday

Im going to door knock today. Bad idea?? I havent met my goal yet so im doing it. Thoughts??

Personally I hate for anybody to knock on my door any day of the week .When I get cold knocked I never open the door and I will tell the knocker through the closed door that I am too busy for an unscheduled appointments since i work out of my home . I ask them to stick a business card in my door so I will know who they are and where they live and I tell them I will pop in on them when I happen to be in their neighborhood and then he/she can get my undivided attention - especially if they might be an insurance prospect .

Seriously though I don't ever open the door for any door knocking canvassers anymore (unless the door knocker happens to possess nice knockers and lulls me in to a trance like state of mind where resistance becomes futile ) but I really try not to be a jerk about it when telling them through my closed door that I am not interested and to please go away . I understand and respect how hard their job is but I have had such unpleasant experiences in the past by letting some of these guys and gals inside who are sales objection overcoming machines who won't take a polite no for a final answer that I decided it's not worth it to ever let one in again..I am really surprised that anybody lets door to door insurance sales people in.

Much respect for those of you who have the Cajones to do it - you deserve ever dollar you earn

Wow, i'm curious... Usually people in our business understand that there is some door knocking that will eventually happen... with that said, do you even sell Final Expense?

I encountered a woman like you recently. She was afraid to open the door because she didn't know me. At the end of the conversation, I told her that I really enjoyed talking to her door.:twitchy:

For the record, i did not cold door knock. I door knocked tm leads that i have had for about a month that i could not get a hold of. I door knocked five doors and got 4 applications.

I simply knocked, told them i never see folks on sunday, but one of their neighbors down the street asked for me to come on sunday so i made an exception, i drove 1.5 hours, noticed you too had requested information, you were down the street so i figured i would see if you had a minute,(while nodding my head yes) then i said want me to take my shoes off?? Worked every time...

I would think DK'ing anyday would be about the same if you are so inclined to DK. I hate it and only DK a lead that I can't contact any other way.

I would never and have never cold DK'ed. Nor do I want anyone to DK at my home. Anyday of the week. I don't send in reply cards but , if I ever did, you better call first or you are not getting in.

I get DK'ed for magazines, cable or satellite TV, steaks, driveway sealing, etc. I'm polite but stern to the DK'er. I tell them that, if I was interested in your product I would contact you so do not just show up at my house again.

I've never had one of those "foot shufflers" that I read about here and have heard about from supposed experts so it's never gotten to the point of being ugly at the door.

They might be waving up a storm out there before they ring the doorbell but I haven't seen that nonsense. That would be funny if I did see one doing that stuff and I would mention it to them.

To the people willing to get out there and do it, more power to you.

What eye opening news, you mean most people won't invite a stranger in for warm cookies and ask where to sign? Thanks for in depth insight.

The fact is, whatever ways people use, most of the success is due to finding the right people when the timing is right. Door knocking typically isn't the most efficient, but obviously is a way to find the right people when the timing is right.

Never door knocked on a Sunday, but I have cold called on a sunday evening. came across a lot of angry people doing that. A lot more than I usually do during the week.
If you live in a secular place like NYC it might work, but in FL it dont...

That was pretty slick!

That certainly would qualify for a "pattern interruption".. Did anybody say to take them off?
