Wow, i'm curious... Usually people in our business understand that there is some door knocking that will eventually happen... with that said, do you even sell Final Expense?
I am pretty much a pure play Medicare Health plans agent since I started in the biz.About 10 -12% of my income is from FE and these are all from either referrals or my health insurance clients calling me and asking if I sell FE. Before the ban on cross selling on MA appointments my FE sales made up about 20-25% of my income.
I started in the business in 1992 with Combined Insurance selling their sickness and med Supp policies door to door to prospects who already had a Combined accident policy or at least had been contacted by a Combined agent so I got some exposure door to door sales. While with Combined Insurance I did learn how to politely barge in to a prospects home without being invited in first by employing the Combined shuffle method of assumptive invitation to enter. The only really nasty receptions I encountered was from prospects who didn't remember who Combined Insurance was and to them I was just a flat out cold knocking door to door insurance salesman and I didn't dig that vibe too much.
I was fortunate I was able to build a book of business with Med supps and then with MA starting in 2006 so that i didn't ever have to rely on door to door sales to make a living.I honestly couldn't do it or maybe I should say I could possibly do it but i hate it so much I would find something else I could sell that doesn't require cold knocking instead and I am really, really surprised that there is still that many trusting people out there who will invite a stranger into their home who just happened to knock on their door - and especially a stranger you wants to try to sell you life insurance! I know i wouldn't let you in my home even if you where selling that free life insurance but my hat is off to you guys that have the skill set to do it.
