Is the lapse rate that bad?

I have an acquaintance who started a small (8 seat) call center here in Tampa doing final expense back in 2010.

The lapse rate (nearly 50%) drove him out of business in less than a year.

So after a day watching this thread, I came to

The conclusion that telesales are better for me
and I will tell you why. I don't have to call most
Of my leads 5 times for them to pick up and say what what .i don't have to door knock and waste
Gas, time, for someone who is Not home, I don't
Have to smell a low income house again, I don't
Have to worry about my nice car getting stolen.
So I will have free advice to my telesales people
That they will stay on the books.and not collapse.
Wish you agents all the luck in the world.

Señor life will be ideal for you. Please come back in 6 months and tell us how it's gone for you...we would all be curious to hear how successful you are with 50% persistency rates and charge backs. Please sell lots around the Pittsburgh area

You have to watch for those policies that "collapse" They could hurt a fellow..
