Should and will the insurance company pay a claim for an accidental suicide?

....but what if you used a recreational drug that was laced w/ fentanyl unbeknownst to the user?
LOL Seems that be worse, when trying to submit a claim. What recreational drug is legal? Death resulting from committing an illegal act is cause for denial, so I thought with a lot of carriers we sell. However, as previous stated, rules on employer sponsored coverage may differ.

I'm sure the death cert. will be the judge in this case.

Funny how the guy/gal know one wants to have come to their house (coroner) can play such a powerful role in our business.

They will have to determine what the will of the victim was, based on any evidence they find. The victim's family may need a lawyer to help them prove it was death by misadventure as the cops aren't likely to dig too deep on this one.

"If you have group life insurance I suggest you read the policy."
This gives you your answer.
From what I remember from my group selling days is that the insured does not get a policy, they get a certificate of insurance.
I assume you have a master policy where the exclusion is indicated.
I have not sold a group case in over 20 years so I did a search.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
